Charlotte Chosen As Host City For 2012 DNC

CHARLOTTE, N.C. --WSOC

Charlotte will host the Democratic National Convention in 2012, officials announced Tuesday.

The Queen City beat out St. Louis, Cleveland and Minneapolis to win the bid to host the 46th convention.

Mayor Anthony Foxx said he heard the news from DNC Chairman Tim Kaine on Tuesday morning. He then met with members of Charlotte's City Council, who were already together for a scheduled retreat.

Councilman Jason Burgess made a motion for Charlotte to accept the convention, something his late mother and former Mayor Pro Tem Susan Burgess always wanted.

“She's looking down; she's cheering right now,” Burgess said.

Foxx said the announcement is the culmination of decades of city building.

“To be able to put Charlotte and North Carolina on an international platform, I think, is going to do great things, not only now, but long into the future,” Foxx said.

I am not debating the guilt or innocence of any of the inmates serving life sentences.
I am confused by adults in positions of authority who want to make changes in the law and policy based on their agenda.

As I understand this case these men and women were sentenced under a law that defines a life sentence as 80 years. Time served and good behavior means they have now meet their obligation.

At the age of 16 should I stop honoring agreements and promises I make when they no longer meet my needs? I think adults really need to reevaluate they way they do business.
Do not forget there is a whole generation watching you even when you think we are not.

As a side bar violence is wrong and should not have a place in our society. Gangs are in many communities selling drugs and hurting people, for me the confusion comes in when the adults that are always specking out against violence support war violence is violence.

Over the next week or so I will be conducting a series of interviews with  people in Hair Salons, Barbershops, on the Street  and in general, the Questions I will ask are 1.Should these Inmates be released? 2. Does a man or women ever pay their debt to society ?
